[ALBANY, NY, August 14—] The Attachment & Trauma Network announces the 2nd Annual Creating Trauma-Sensitive Schools Conference, February 17 thru 19, 2019. The conference will take place at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C. Registration for this conference opened on August 1, 2018
The Creating Trauma-Sensitive Schools Conference is targeted toward educators, administrators, school personnel, and other child-serving professionals. School-based professionals community leaders and parents will have an opportunity to explore the importance of trauma-informed care in schools and other child-serving environments. Through the ACEs (adverse childhood experiences) studies and neurological research, we now know how significantly early trauma impacts a child’s ability to learn and develop and the importance of addressing the complexities of childhood trauma in schools. The Creating Trauma-Sensitive Schools Conference aims to educate and train attendees on how to create an environment for traumatized children.
In 2019, the conference will feature two keynote speakers: Dr. Mona Johnson, Director of Student Support, Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction; and Dr. Melissa Sadin, Attachment & Trauma Network’s CTSS Program Director. Additionally,
Attachment & Trauma Network announces two special guests: Jim Sporleder, Retired principal, Lincoln High School, Walla Walla, WA; and Dr. Allison Sampson-Jackson, Trauma-informed consultant, and CEO of Integrated Solutions; Richmond, VA.
The Attachment & Trauma Network (ATN) was founded in 1995 as means of support for parents with children who suffered from attachment disorders and early trauma. Since its inception, ATN has evolved to become the national organization that supports families and educates professionals on attachment and trauma disorders. In addition to the annual CTSS Conference, ATN provides Professional Development training to schools across the US. ATN’s Parenting Program provides training materials, an online support group and speaks at numerous conferences on trauma-sensitive parenting.
