A photographer’s mission: Documenting the trauma of Chicago’s street violence - Illinois

Carlos Ortiz, 37, wants everyone to see what he sees happening in the streets of Chicago. Ortiz has been documenting the gun violence in his hometown for the last 7 years.

His photo documentary is called: “Too Young to Die: Examining a Lost Generation In America” and the pictures are haunting, beautiful, and raw. They expose the aftermath of gun violence and visually show the tangible reality that gun violence makes in a community lost.

“No one speaks about the trauma that is felt in these communities after the violence occurs,” says Ortiz....
