Here are several excellent letters to the editor in response to the May 25 New York Times editorial “End Mass Incarceration Now.” One letter points out a missing truth in the editorial---that many people in prisons today have mental illnesses and should be in treatment rather than in prisons or jails. The multi-generational impact of mass incarceration brings urgency to the case for prevention of ACEs and early intervention.
