After the Attica "rebellion" and retaking by NYS Police, I was invited to be a member of a "nationwide Prison Dispute Mediation Team" initiated by James Ellis, then Associate Director at the local office of the National Center for Dispute Settlement of the American Arbitration Association. Former "Inmates" and Guards, along with Dispute Resolution specialists comprised the team. Some Training was also done by Faculty from SUNY Brockport. James asked me to present particulars to two AAA Board members. When James succumbed to cancer, soon after the presentation, the initiative "fizzled away". Is anyone familiar with similar initiatives that are still on-going?
