Chris is a man of God who desires to see people be healed from trauma that they may have experienced in life. He is a key leader in the faith community who understands well the link between biblical truths and the role that one's faith can play in healing from early life wounds. Chris' desire is to see congregations become trauma-informed and create an environment that facilitates healing and wholeness. I highly recommend this Bible study!

Chaplain Chris Haughee is the first author courageous enough to write a bible study on the topic of ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences). He has pioneered this topic, paving the way for others to follow in his foot steps. His passion for our nation's children is expressed in his writing...

This curriculum is a beautiful combination of understanding what is happening in the 'physical' and viewing it through a lens of faith and scripture. I attended a small group study of 'Bruised Reeds and Smoldering Wicks' and even though we had different religious backgrounds, the scriptures spoke to each of us, especially as they related to being trauma-informed.

Thanks to science, we know that adversity (toxic stress) experienced in childhood can have a lasting impact and can result in long-term negative health and social outcomes. Thanks to scripture, we know that Jesus was drawn towards those that appeared unworthy and unlovable. Thanks to this study, we have a better understanding of how the two intersect and why becoming a trauma-informed individual, organization, church, etc. is so powerful and important.
