American Rescue Plan & Trauma-Informed Care for Early Head Start/Head Start

Early Head Start/Head StartAmerican Rescue Plan (ARP) Act grant recipients are facing challenges regarding how to spend down ARP funding by March 31, 2023. While initial funds were a critical lifeline to child care programs during the worst of the pandemic, there's still plenty that can be done to create stability in programs for the long-term; grant recipients know the importance of building workplace environments that are safe, equitable, trustworthy, and that support healing.

At the Traumatic Stress Institute we offer a Whole-System Change Model to Trauma-Informed Care (TIC). Our model provides programs with an opportunity to build TIC practices that are rooted in healthy relationships and can serve as protective factors to build resilience โ€“ for staff, children, and caregivers. The model has been developed over our 20 years of work in trauma-informed care and it:

  • Improves the quality of services provided to families in Head Start communities
  • Provides a framework for creating a program-wide trauma-informed, inclusive environment
  • Provides long-term professional development experience for staff through a train-the-trainer approach
  • Improves quality of classroom management and instructional learning to meet CLASSยฎ domains
  • Promotes reflective supervision through a trauma-informed approach and focuses on staff wellness
  • Supports procedural change through data-driven decision making

Regardless of where your program is located, the Traumatic Stress Institute can support your next steps to becoming a TIC organization. If you are currently exploring ways to become a trauma-informed agency or searching for a TIC program evaluation supported through data, schedule a free consultation call.
