Documentary explores the effects of secondary trauma on professional caregivers
Philadelphia - #NationalCaregiversDay is this Friday, February 17th. It was begun just last year in an effort to draw attention to, and honor, the health care professionals that serve those who require long-term or hospice care.
"Caregivers who work in long-term and hospice care are vital," said Vic Compher co-producer of Portraits of Professional Caregivers: Their Passion. Their Pain. “I hope that people take the time to thank not just long-term and hospice care workers, but professional caregivers of all types, and especially those who care for traumatized clients or patients. Indeed our film is both a tribute and a behind scenes look at the emotional and physical impact of providing such services--including how these care providers cope and maintain resiliency in the workplace. We focus among others on child welfare workers, teachers, clinical therapists, hospice personnel, nurses, doctors, and first responders (firefighters, EMT's and police)."
"Here in Philadelphia we have also been invited to create our own local version of a CAREGIVERS and FIRST RESPONDERS DAY that will include a screening of the documentary at City Hall later this year."
Our CAREgivers film team invites folks in celebration of #NationalCaregiversDay to take advantage of our new VOD options that allow individuals to stream the film for 24 hours or organizations for up to 12 months. DVD's may also be purchased by organizations online.
We look forward to screenings and workshops on STS and staff resiliency that are scheduled during the next 3 months in Northern California, Missouri, and Rhode Island among other places. Please feel free to contact Lauren Townsend at ltownsend4@gmail.com or Vic Compher at viccompher@comcast.net for further information on creating your own local CAREGIVERS DAY or to arrange for screenings.
