We so appreciate your being a member of ACEs Connection, which is a gift in and of itself!
Here are some quick numbers to share with you as we reach the end of our first-ever fundraising campaign — the ACEs Changemakers Matching Grant Campaign:
- 50,000 — You are among the first of nearly 50,000 members of ACEs Connection! We’ll pass that milestone in a few weeks. As a member, you are helping unite the people, organizations, systems and communities in the worldwide ACEs movement to prevent adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), heal trauma and build resilience for individuals, families and communities. Thank you!
- $50,000 — You have the chance to help make a little history now by donating to our first-ever fundraising campaign where your gift in any size will be matched dollar-for-dollar through Sunday, January 31, 2021.
- $12,525 — That’s the amount we need to raise in the next three days, so we can match the “challenge” amount of $50,000, which will earn an additional $50,000 from our matching grant donor. If we meet the $50,000 goal, it will mean $100,000 for ACEs Connection!
Your tax-deductible $20 gift right now will mean $40 to ACEs Connection.
Your tax-deductible $50 gift right now will mean $100 to ACEs Connection.
Your tax-deductible $250 gift right now will mean $500 to ACEs Connection!
Further, if your employer matches gifts to charitable organizations, your gift will be quadrupled! Your $25 gift right now will mean $100 to ACEs Connection; $250 means $1000!
With these funds we will continue our grassroots work to help local communities start and grow ACEs science initiatives, initiatives that will help community members come together to solve our most intractable problems.
Many pioneers in the ACEs movement have made stunning progress. Some examples:
- A program that drastically reduces opioid deaths — by combining law enforcement, rehab centers, and hospitals — saw a 26 percent drop v. 84 percent increase in deaths in surrounding counties.
- A family physician who treats people addicted to opioids integrates ACES science and sees more than 1,200 patients successfully hold jobs — 100 percent recovery. (Other research about this program.)
- Batterer intervention programs integrate ACEs science to reduce recidivism from 60 percent to 1 percent.
- Safe Babies Courts show that one year after participating, 99 percent of the children suffer no further abuse.
- Hundreds of schools — including schools in Antioch, CA, Suisun City, CA, San Francisco, CA, Spokane, WA, San Diego, CA, and Walla Walla, WA — have integrated trauma-informed practices; many of these schools no longer need to suspend or expel students, and their grades, test scores and graduation rates increased.
And now communities are in the process of integrating policies and practices based on the science of positive and adverse childhood experiences to multiply these remarkable achievements across all organizations and sectors to create healing-centered communities.
This is a time of great change in our nation, our world. You are on the leading edge of that change, helping us support the 400 communities (and growing!) that are leading the way toward a more compassionate, accepting world where all people thrive.
Whatever you can share, I hope you will.
This is the last time I will make a request, as our Changemaker campaign ends in three days. Next week we’ll publish our honor roll of ACEs Changemakers. It would be great to see your name among them.
