Child abuse crusade - New Zealand

"The purpose of the seminars is to give those working with children and young people the skills to identify neglect and abuse, to know what to do about it and feel confident doing it, to understand the implications of the Privacy Act in terms of sharing information, to develop robust child protection policies for their organisations and to raise community awareness.

"The seminars include presentations by each of the nurses, a paediatrician, an internet safety expert, a detective and a Child Youth and Family Services (CYFS) social worker. There is also a "five-minute, crystal clear presentation on the Privacy Act" developed in consultation with the Privacy Commission after debate at the first seminar about what could, or could not, be reported under the act...."
