Childhood Beginnings - Tennessee

"Key players in law enforcement, healthcare, education and early child development gathered last week at the University of Memphis for a symposium organized by People First (a Memphis Fast Forward initiative) and the Early Success Coalition. The conversation examined Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE), and how emerging science shows a direct link between these experiences and the health of a city.

"After brief comments from Mayors Whatron and Luttrell, two experts in ACEs spoke to the audience; Dr. Vince Felitti, MD, a physician in the Department of Preventative Medicine at Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program in San Diego, and Robin Karr-Morse, a Portland, Oregon family therapist and co-author of two books exploring the consequences of ACEs, Ghosts from the Nursery and Scared Sick...."
