Connections Matter Training: Preventing and Mitigating ACEs

Every day connections are more important than we ever believed. Science tells us that relationships have the power to shape our brains. Relationships help us learn better, work better, parent better. When we experience tough times or traumatic experiences, they help us heal. With each connection, we develop a healthier stronger community.

Connections Matter Georgia is an in-person training designed to engage community members in building caring connections to:
• Improve resiliency,
• Prevent childhood trauma, and
• Understand how our interactions with others can support those who have experienced trauma.

The Connections Matter Georgia initiative is a collaboration between the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy and Prevent Child Abuse Georgia, using the Connections Matter curriculum developed by Prevent Child Abuse Iowa.

Consider making Advancing Parenting’s fifty-three parenting norms bumper stickers available to the attendees at your events and meetings.  Parenting norms on vehicles will be read 1000s of times by 1000s of people of all ages for years to come...a unique and powerful way to get quality parenting information out to the community.  Visit advancingparenting.org to read about what we do, why we do it, our plans for the future, and how to order sets of the fifty-three parenting norms bumper stickers.

The best strategy is to have them laid out on three tables... and it does take three tables.  Tell the attendees that they may choose one or two for their car(s). Handing them out doesn't work as well.  Some folks don't put stickers on their cars and everyone who wants one will appreciate the opportunity to make their own choice.

Congratulations, Julia and team!

This is terrific. I would so love to attend one of these trainings.

There is so much great work being done in Georgia. What a time of excitement and encouragement. I know there’s a lot to do, AND it sounds as though you all are building on a remarkable framework thanks to the prior work to prevent sex trafficking in Georgia.

I am so proud of my home state and look forward to seeing how ACEs Connection can support Georgia’s 159 counties in sustaining the work via our Growing Resilient Communities model, our website support, tracking presentations, tracking and making data available, connecting people and communities that may offer or need experience, strength, and hope from you all, and of course the full complement of ACEs information here!
