It's fabulous how everyone on this site is working diligently to help find a solution to the problems that result from ACES and determining ways in which we can build resilience. The work that everyone is doing is very important and can be life changing to countless Americans.
I've been told that I have a knack for starting difficult conversations, providing a safe space for sharing, listening with intention and leaving people with the knowing that they've been seen, heard and relaying to them that they matter. I've attached "testimonials" from participants that Conversations that Matter that I used to make the above statement.
These conversations I've found are the gateway to healing, resilience and learning a new way of living life.
My intent is to get together parents and children to start these Conversations and then teach the tools needed to provide a safe space for non-judgmental sharing. If we focus primarily on healing children yet send them home to unhealthy families we may be "spinning our wheels"; the same holds true for focusing on just adults. I believe if we work with both simultaneously using consistent tools of teaching, then our effectiveness will increase.
In all my years of working with patients one of the biggest complaints I heard was that if they interacted with several care providers, they were constantly receiving conflicting information. The lack of consistency overwhelmed them and they ended up taking the recommendations of no one!
I'm planning for a 4th quarter launch of a multi city tour to do just that.
I would love to collaborate or partner with other organizations in this aggressive venture. The link below is a presentation I created to further discuss Conversations that Matter. The link must be downloaded. It's safe as it was created and is housed in my personal drive.
