At Partner for Healing (www.partnerforhealing.org) we have just finished a month about Sustaining Trauma Informed Care.
It is amazing that you can do a lot of training and work to implement trauma-informed care, and then all of the sudden you notice that the punitive has returned and people are saying things and using responses you thought you had completely eliminated. Why does this happen and what can we do about it?
We have some great tools for you. Our first post this month was on Nine Essential Action Areas for Sustaining Trauma-Informed Care, and included a checklist for administrators.
Next we examined supervision in What is the Most Powerful Investment to Maintain Trauma-Informed Care? We provided a Best Practices Guidelines for Reflective Supervision.
Next we offered Fifteen Signs That Trauma-Informed Care is Eroding- and What to Do about It.
The final post of the month was a longer article entitled When Treatment Programs Become War Zones- and How to Bring Peace. We've included many specific, practical tips on recognizing when a good program is struggling and how to return to a treatment focus. This article includes a sample action plan as part of the path out of a war zone mentality.
We hope you come to www.partnerforhealing.org and become our partner!
