Hi everyone!
I am so excited and honored to be showing our almost done, “work-in-progress” film, CRACKED UP at the Traverse City Film Festival in Michigan this weekend!
I am also a proud member of ACEs Connection and thank Jane Stevens for what she and her team have created and the impact they make every day!
Because of people like Jane, the ACE Study is not on the fringes anymore. WE REALLY ARE A MOVEMENT NOW!
I hope everyone in the area can come to our two screenings! I will be there (Director) along with Darrell Hammond and our producer David Becker!
I have invited the Michigan ACE Initiative to provide information as well as therapeutic support for our audiences. (Thank you Lisa Farnum for assisting with this.) Qualified trauma informed counselors will be on hand to provide emotional support for audience members and a table with ACEs information and local resources will be available to anyone interested and in need of immediate care.
ACE Interface master trainer Mary Gruman will speak on behalf of the ACEs initiative as the film is about the long term effects of childhood trauma told through the incredible story of Darrell Hammond, an SNL legend!
This film is five years in the making. Darrell’s story affirms the ACEs research in a very clear and powerful way. I have never seen a man be so vulnerable on camera. His courage to break himself open for all to see is nothing less than heroic, AND we get to laugh along the way, because Darrell is a genius comic.
Humor is so important! We need to work hard, and take this issue seriously, but we can’t take ourselves too seriously. Having a sense of humor about myself and in my life is such a great medicine. I think it even rewires neurons too! I know it connects us and it sure feels good to know that we are all in this together. I am proud to be a part of the ACEs community of change-makers!
