Thank you to all of the staff at AcesConnection (special shout out to Carey) and Tugg for providing us the #CrackedUp viewing. The additional time extension was also appreciated. Darrell Hammond's life experience is reflective of hope through pain and suffering. My personal goal is to share this knowledge in order to inspire healing and acceptance.

I am grateful for this site!

Lisa: Thanks so much. I'm glad you got to watch despite the glitches. And Carey IS the best! We are grateful to the Director, @Michelle Esrick and to @Alex Dobrenko at Tugg for making this available to our members.

I forgot to thank Carey too, for bringing this important message to all of us. Bottom line.. lots of gratitude to all who brought it to life and in front of our (teary) eyes!

A powerful documentary with words so precise and relatable - from Darrell H - that I felt goosebumps of recognition throughout:

"…not mental illness, but mental injury."

"Something happened to me.. I’m not ashamed of it."

"Had someone bothered to stop what was happening to me, someone could have said: your son sits on the railroad tracks…and I want to talk to you."

I hope these words echo in the ears and hearts of those on the sidelines - who might have already spotted signs of distress in others; so that they are equipped with the moral courage to intervene in the future.

Thanks Jane et al, for sharing. I hope this film and its messages will circulate more widely on off-ACEs sites too.

Lisa, try this - https://aces.tugg.com/full-movies/cracked-up

When I follow the link to https://aces.tugg.com/full-movies/cracked up it makes me try to login again and then says it doesn't recognize my usernameand/or password.

Jamie, I believe that might be because the window in which the screening was available may already be closed. I can't explain it otherwise..sorry. Maybe there's a way to find a screening elsewhere or to download/purchase the film?

Amit:
Thanks for responding. And Jamie: The screening window for members watching the film closed on 6/10. But, here's the documentary website for more information about the film. Cissy

If you can watch this video...you might learn something about childhood trauma and its long term effects. You will definitely learn something about talk therapies (listening & caring) - the effectiveness, the skill, patience, persistence of the "listener" required; the necessity of having a goal (ie: finding that one piece of memory that will free the person to remember the traumatic event(s); and the role a spiritual practice can play to help process the outcomes...a "place" to deposit the mental byproducts of therapy. You will also learn that years of misdiagnosis and over-diagnosis of DSM-defined "illnesses" can be traumatic in and of themselves. When one person receives strings of various diagnoses - usually happening each time they enter a new mental health system (ER) and receive a new diagnosis - something is not right. A caring friend or family member can and should help them pursue non-medical root causes of behavioral problems...find a qualified trauma-informed therapist. rr
