"Whitney said part of Whitcomb’s message will be that law enforcement officials should talk about the traumatic scenes they encounter rather than keeping these experiences to themselves.
“I know I’m that way. I don’t go home and talk about stuff. If I go to a fatal accident I know I don’t go home and sit and talk about it,” he said. “Most people bottle it up.
“I encourage anybody to go, especially law enforcement or anybody who is a first responder. We have encouraged our people (in the sheriff’s office) to go to it,” Whitney said.
"Whitney said a program like the one on Sept. 27 could help the spouses or significant others of law enforcement officers and first responders. It could help them know what signs of trauma to look for in the officers or responders...."
