Disorder, Disability or result of Adverse Childhood Experience?

As a speech and language pathologist, it is so important to listen to children and understand who they are, what their development experience has been how they cope in the world. The big question for me is "What is the influence of environment and relationship have on speech and language development?"  "Does a child have a speech and language disorder or have they experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) that have impacted their brain development in such a way that language is challenging to process?" What are your thoughts and questions?

Hi Jessie, Thank you for bring up this conversation on ACEs Connection.  A friend of mine is a pediatric speech therapist and was just asking about ACEs and the children she serves - perfect timing!  I appreciate that you've brought this conversation to the ACEs Connection site - this is an important conversation and I hope you continue to share your insights here!  Thanks again, Karen
