Please join us for a new series entitled: Trauma-Informed Criminal Justice. This monthly virtual Zoom series will feature conversations facilitated by Porter Jennings-McGarity, PACEs Connection’s criminal justice consultant, with special guests to discuss the need for trauma-informed criminal justice system reform. Using a PACEs-science lens, this series will examine the relationship between trauma and the criminal justice system, what needs changing, and strategies being used in this area to create positive systems change.
November Session, Wednesday, November 10th, 2021 2:00 – 3:00 pm CST – “Examples of Current Trauma-Informed Judicial Systems” with special guest, Dr. Mimi Graham, Director of Florida State University Center for Prevention and Early Intervention Policy. Dr. Graham helped establish Florida’s Early Childhood Courts (ECCs), which uses the National ZERO TO THREE organization’s Safe Babies Court Team approach and the Miami Child Well-Being model to serve child welfare cases involving children under the age of three in an effort to address multigenerational across the state.
Dr. Graham will join us in November to talk about trauma-informed judicial initiatives, including Florida’s Early Childhood Courts and Young Parents Project for court-involved teens and their parents. She will also provide related recommended resources to participants.
