Local leaders are in the midst of monthslong discussions that could make it easier for authorities to track the most dangerous domestic violence offenders and give victims additional layers of security.
The proposed system would allow district court judges to order domestic violence offenders to wear an electronic monitoring device. It also would create a high-risk assessment team and put into place a survey to weigh the danger victims face.
β¦.Along with monitoring, the proposed system would include the creation of a high-risk assessment team, which originated in Massachusetts and curbed domestic violence homicides there. Officials also are planning to use a lethality assessment survey, originally developed in 1986 to determine the level of danger an abused woman has of being killed by her intimate partner.
