FREE WEBINAR: Community Resilience Model- An Innovative Approach to Addressing Burnout

Join the IL ACEs Response Collaborative for the latest webinar in our continuing series on best practices to prevent and mitigate the effects of provider burnout.

The 2nd session of the IL ACEs Response Collaborative's series on burnout will discuss the Community Resiliency Model, developed by Elaine Miller-Karas of the Trauma Resource Institute, and explain how it prevents burnout in the workplace.

The Community Resiliency Model creates “trauma-informed” and “resiliency-focused” communities that share a common understanding of the impact of trauma and chronic stress on the nervous system and how resiliency can be restored using this skills-based approach. The Community Resilience Model is based on current neuroscience and teaches six biologically-based wellness skills to return the mind and body back into a more balanced state.

The model can also be employed by organizations to address the traumatic experiences staff face and to prevent burnout in a variety of settings, and was recently applied and measured with hospital based nurses by Dr. Linda Grabbe of Emory University.

Ms. Miller-Karas and Dr. Grabbe will highlight the development of the Community Resilience Model, how it was utilized with nurses and share their exciting results from a recently published article. They will also discuss ways the model can be utilized in a variety of organizational settings.

About Our 2020 Burnout Webinar Series:

This is the second of the Collaborative’s three-part series focusing on the rising issue of burnout in health and human services. In February, Collaborative director Lara Altman and Dr. Audrey Stillerman of the University of Illinois at Chicago discussed the prevalence of burnout in healthcare settings, how it impacts the health of practitioners and their patients, and how to utilize this knowledge to create a more mindful organization.
