Dr. Kathleen Flarity, DNP, PhD, CEN, CFRN, FAEN, FAAN is the Deputy Director of the CU Anschutz Center for COMBAT (COmbat Medicine and BATtlefield) Research. Additionally, Brig Gen Flarity is the Mobilization Assistant to the Command Surgeon, Air Mobility Command, Scott AFB, IL. She is an experienced nurse practitioner and emergency and critical care flight nurse. She has over 40 years of military service, including multiple deployments and commands. Kathleen has published multiple peer-reviewed research articles on the effectiveness of the Forward-Facing Professional Resilience Program
Jim Dietz is a recently retired Emergency Medicine Physician with 35 years of clinical experience, the last sixteen he spent at Marin General Hospital where he was also the Director of Emergency Medicine. Jim was the coordinator for the 10-year Emergency Medicine Resilience Project with CEP America/Vituity – one of the largest group practice of physicians and mid-level practitioners in the US. Jim and Dr. Gentry provided the one-day Forward-Facing Professional Resileince workshop to hundreds of these physicians during the decade of 2009 – 2019. Jim is also the co-author of Forward-Facing Professional Resilience published by Outskirts Press in 2020.
Gentry, Flarity and Dietz all collaborated to write the recently published chapter on Compassion Fatigue Resiliency (Flarity, K., J.E Gentry, Dietz, J., Bebarta, V.,) was published in Struss and Mayer’s 2d of Emergency Department Management; American College of Emergency Physicians.
