As a child who experienced trauma, I hated CBT. And from your flyer, I highly object to both of....

4)Help your child to understand and manage overwhelming emotions

5)Help your child to understand and modify problem behaviors

#4 promotes a hyper-individualist perspective that often improperly, and oppressively, shifts attention and accountability away from social determinants of health.

#5 is, very often, highly ableist and based on prejudiced normative standards of behavior. And that's not "one or two bad therapists", it's a systemic issue.

Do and be better. Please.

Anyone who wants to have a conversation with an actual child trauma survivor about what works and doesn't work for us, feel free to contact me at max.taylor@neuroclastic.org.

I'm also available to help consult and rework troubling curriculum goals like those stated above.
