The Illinois ACEs Response Collaborative is excited to announce our next free webinar, Trauma-Informed Policymaking: Leading Change in Illinois, on Mon. July 29th, 1-2pm CST
Increasingly used in organizational transformation and service delivery contexts, the trauma-informed framework is equally as important for policymaking and budget/resource allocation—especially given that policies have caused significant trauma to families and communities, and continue to do so today. Join us to hear about our new Trauma-Informed Policymaking Tool and learn from groups using TI practices in their policy and advocacy work.
Lara Altman, Director of the Illinois ACEs Response Collaborative, will provide an overview of our new Tool and demonstrate how it can be used in practice beyond Illinois. We are excited to feature two campaigns that embody TI policymaking:
• Colette Payne, Community Organizer with Cabrini Green Legal Aid, will present on the work to pass HB2649 (Bill of Rights for Children of the Incarcerated) and HB2444 (The Best Interest of the Child Act), which prioritizes the health and wellbeing of children of incarcerated parents.
• Youth leaders from Voices of Youth in Chicago Education (VOYCE) will discuss the Rethinking Safety Campaign, which works to build healthy, supportive, and safe learning environments by expanding access to mental and behavioral health services; improving transparency around suspensions, expulsions, and arrests of K-12 students; and investing in school-based health centers.
