Thanks Karen. I joined the other two communities you suggested. Both are great fits for me and my work. Happy to be a part with other committed folks! I have been doing this for a long  time and for years it felt like screaming into the wind, but the tides may be turning and may not go the way of a passing fad as history has suggested. also I am sure you are aware of the 60 minutes episode this Sunday  with Oprah and Bruce Perry- hoping the work is portrayed accurately. it is yet another sign of a potentially shifting in the culture.

This is a fantastic step toward effecting positive change on a big scale. In these divided times, anything that gets unanimous support is newsworthy! Keep the momentum going. Supply & demand drives gun sales and use. This kind of change can actually do more good than gun control can. 

Trauma-informed care is vital. We celebrate it. But do all our communities have the "care/services" to make "trauma-informed"? The answer is a resounding no. Data indicate huge gaps in vital family services.

We must work to ensure that every child and parent have access to trauma-informed behavioral health care, medical/dental care, safe housing, stable food sources, transport to vital services, early childhood learning programs, parent supports, youth mentors, family-centered schools and job training.

ACEs prevention is cross-sector, data-driven and systemic. We have much important work to do to meet the needs of our most vulnerable residents.  www.resilienceleaders.org

Keep in mind, this is a resolution with a strong affirmation. A bill with further guidance could be the next step - and other activities as well. In this political climate, it speaks volumes that there was unanimous bipartisan support. 

thanks was trying to figure out how to join. as a child psychologist specializing in trauma, child and family homelessness, assessment, and organizational TIC,  I am delighted t0 join these groups and connect, learn, and move the field with new colleagues. I can hear some disappointment from folks - that there is no funding etc.  Please do NOT be discouraged!  This is the process.  Now that the federal government has passed this resolution - governmental organizations that function under the federal government (receive funding / states / local legislators etc) can use this language - which opens the flood gates for radical systems level / policy level change.  This is BIG! 

There is no quick fix - but there are incremental wins - that have profound impact!   

The "ball is in our court" so to speak ...  how can this information be leveraged to support the work you are doing??

This is a FANTASTIC first step - not a lot of things are passing unanimously these days!!!  now we need to keep at it to move for funding, support for training, programs, etc.
