Here’s What’s New in August: Abridged CRC Curriculum & a Dive Into Our Community Forum

Many of our members spend long winters advocating for organizations, policy, and justice while they dream of warm summer days and a needed respite. We know how important it is to our members to hit the reset button, so we have an abridged *CRC* curriculum this August, including a few rescheduled events. The full CRC curriculum will resume in September.

Now that we’ve kickstarted the PACEs Connection CRC community, we’ve got just what you need to keep important discussion going and innovate alongside other CRC participants who are helping make their communities more resilient just like you are. We’re rolling out our CRC Community Forum to answer unique and frequently asked questions. See additional details below.

Program Summary

The PACEs 16-hour Creating Resilient Communities (CRC) accelerator certification program is focused on supporting and developing individual advocates and organizational agents of change in transforming their communities and organizations using PACEs science, trauma-informed awareness and resilience frameworks.

The CRC accelerator will cover fundamental topics such as understanding PACEs science, community organizing, multi-sector collaboration, and strategic planning; as well as several timely topics. Participants who complete all events in the series will receive a Certificate of Completion and will qualify for PACEs Connection fall 2023 fellowship program.

What’s New in August?

There’s an abridged CRC curriculum in August, but the full CRC will resume in September. This month, you can look forward to circling up with PACEs own Jenna Quinn, Dr. Porter Jennings-McGarity (but you can call her Porter), Mathew Portell, and Carey Sipp for insight on criminal justice, the environment, organizing, and partnerships. Learn more about CRC facilitators here.

Here’s what we’ve also learned about August: it’s a brilliant month to share and discuss ideas and innovate, especially for CRC members looking to collaborate and learn from others within their sector. To build momentum, we encourage program participants to visit the CRC Community Forum, check out new topics, and get to know others in the program by posting a discussion question of your own.

What 2023 CRC Participants Have to Say About the Accelerator

One of the most valuable things the PACEs Connection organization does for Community creators is share information and resources. I learned so much about where to find different kinds of resources within the extensive PACEs online platform! No matter my question I am reassured after this class: I don’t have to go it alone.” —Heather Hanslin ADR-DC

This was a wonderful course. I love it when they are small and people are willing to interact. In South Carolina, ACE/PCE science is not a routine part of the nursing curriculum and garners no more than a paragraph in textbooks. I believe this is probably one of the most important areas of research and care of the population that needs to be taught to new nurses. It empowers them to know and understand themselves and their patients. Their observed empathy levels are much higher by the end of the course. I am always looking for ways to learn more about ACE/PCE and update my courses with the newest information regularly. I am so thankful for PACES Connect and the generous grants providing this information to keep my students current and relevant regarding ACE/PCE research. I look forward to the remainder of the sessions I plan to attend.” —Monica Morehead

I am inching my way through Creating Resilient Communities and really enjoyed this offering to help me identify how others have had success in creating partnerships. My background is in health care so the connections are often created for us. Moving into a public health and community work force domain is very different and this course helped me to collect thoughts and ideas from others regarding next steps. The resources and personal connections through networking are also incredibly valuable.” —Hilary Marine, MSN, CPNP-PC
