In a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, researchers found that we spend about $1.3 million across a lifetime for every child who dies from abuse and more than $210,000 for an abused child who survives.

"The Senate budget proposal to invest an additional $7.9 million in the Texas Home Visiting Program.
"SB 426: This legislation provides the framework to ensure that future state investments are directed toward programs that have evidence supporting their effectiveness and that the programs are held accountable for outcomes that benefit Texas children, families and taxpayers.
"SB 1836: This bill helps finance the Texas Home Visiting program through voluntary donations when copies of birth certificates, marriage licenses and divorce decrees are purchased."
