The other day I had the pleasure of reading an article in Psychology Today titled Positive Childhood Experiences May Improve Mental Health. As ACEs Connection has moved to PACEs Connection, I felt the need to read up on the impact of positive childhood experiences. This article illuminated the impact of these experiences and what we can do to achieve them.

Something that really stuck with me in the article was β€œknowing what types of experiences are most important.” The article gave a living wage and paid time off (PTO) as examples, as they afford parents the opportunity to be there for their children as opposed to working multiple jobs, which many parents do to support their families. This led me to find that, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, working multiple jobs has been on the rise in the U.S. over the past two decades. Additionally, women are more likely to hold multiple jobs than men.

After witnessing the collaborative environment of PACEs connection communities, there is a great potential for stakeholders at every level to work together to bring about impactful change for our communities in not only this area but every domain.
