ROAR Recap from January 11, 2024

THANK YOU for your continued support for our growing community collaboration to grow RESILIENCE in Robeson County by increasing education and awareness about ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and the Protective Factors that we can foster within our community to help buffer the negative potential impacts.

ROAR meets the 2nd Thursday of each month. Our next meeting will be on February 8 at 10 am.

2024 Commitments to ROAR



Mission:

To educate, connect and empower the people of Robeson County by increasing awareness and understanding of Adverse Childhood and Community Experiences and teaching skills for building resilience.

Vision:

That every person in Robeson County will have the tools they need to recognize, process and overcome their own adversities and that individual, familial and community resilience will thrive.



EVERY stakeholder is encouraged and invited to COMPLETE the 2024 Commitments Document attached below. This will help the steering committee begin to identify how and when we can best coordinate our grassroots efforts to spread resilience education and awareness everywhere.

COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT

The purpose of ReCAST Robeson is to promote resilience, trauma-informed approaches, and equity in Robeson County, NC; and assist high-risk youth and families using evidence-based violence prevention, and community youth engagement programs.

With funding from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the R.O.A.R. Coalition is partnering with NC Youth Violence Prevention Center to assess our communities current needs and gaps in services as related to at-risk youth and community resilience.

The survey will only take a few minutes to complete and it will assist in helping people, meeting the community needs, and providing hope.

2024 SMALL GRANTS INITIATIVE

The purpose of ReCAST Robeson is to promote resilience, trauma-informed approaches, and equity in Robeson County, NC; and assist high-risk youth and families using evidence-based violence prevention, and community youth engagement programs.

With funding from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the R.O.A.R. Coalition is excited to announce this Request for Proposals.

We welcome grant applications from R.O.A.R. Coalition members and community-based agencies to launch activities, events, and initiatives to assist high risk youth and families. Grants will have a budget amount of up to $20,000 and will go from March 1, 2024 to September 30, 2024. The deadline for applications is February 9, 2024.

NOTE: Completed applications will also be considered for smaller micro-grants available through funding from Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, so complete the application even if you have a small budget project that could be accomplished in this time frame.
