I received the following letter from Monica Adrian, Caring Kids Program Manager for Merced County Office of Education.
2/14/12
To Whom It May Concern:
I am pleased to be able to write a letter of recommendation for Dave Lockridge and his fantastic work with ACE OVERCOMERS. I have worked closely with Mr. Lockridge on several community efforts. He has been actively involved in the Building Healthy Communities Project sponsored by the California Endowment and chairs Merced’s Family Wellness Council. He facilitates support groups in which he uses a curriculum he has created to help adults overcome adverse childhood experiences. He is now beginning to expand his reach by offering trainings to the broader community about understanding and overcoming adverse childhood experiences.
Mr. Lockridge’s work is an asset to our community. For his first seminar, he was able to secure funding from First 5 Merced County to cover the registration fee for a small group of those that work in the field of early care and education. These slots were in high demand and filled up immediately. This demand led to the Caring Kids Program arranging to host an additional seminar with funding from the Mental Health Services Act, Prevention and Early Intervention funds. These slots also filled up instantly which led to Caring Kids hosting, yet again, one more seminar. Each of these two trainings had lengthy waiting lists as well. He did not disappoint his audiences. He presented enthusiastically with great attention to detail.
Evaluations collected from audience members were overwhelmingly favorable. Participants mentioned:
- “You provided tools that I can use in my professional and personal life.”
- “These trainings are exactly what we need to improve & build a healthy community.”
- “I liked how you tied the research in with anecdotal examples to make it relevant.”
- “It provided significant insight to learn about possible correlations of ACE scores and health outcomes.”
- “Would love to participate in other trainings offered by Dave.”
- “It was a very eye opening training…This will help me work better with both parents and children.”
Mr. Lockridge is genuine and passionate about getting this critical information out into the community. I recommend him as presenter without reservation.
Sincerely,
Monica Adrian
