"Texas lawmakers over the past decade have approved some of the toughest measures in the nation to capture and punish human traffickers, the vendors in a modern-day slave trade of people forced into prostitution or labor.

This legislative session, Sen. Leticia Van de Putte says she wants state officials to focus on the victims of the sex business — particularly children and adolescents...."
