After a teenager was arrested and charged last week with fatally stabbing a fellow student outside their Bronx middle school, two troubled young lives came into public view.

There were signs of instability in each 14-year-old boy’s home, and there were signs of a feud turning dangerously ugly between the onetime friends: Timothy Crump and the boy accused of killing him, Noel Estevez.
