Life-Size 'Street Graphs' Illustrate London's Housing Crisis [CityLab.com]

Bad news for Londoners getting sick of being reminded of how big their housing affordability crisis is: someone has come up with a new, graphic way of showing them once more just how bad things have got. It’s called Streetgraphs, and it’s an art project and Tumblr that tries a new spin on illustrating London’s housing issues. It uses existing street infrastructure.*

Whoever is behind the project (they’re choosing to remain anonymous at this point, though the creative agency January is apparently involved) has been plastering signs on London utility boxes (and then photographing them), each box’s bulk and height representing the columns of a graph.* Spread evenly across the city, these graphs take on a pretty broad range of targets, whether it’s the disappearance of affordable housing or the rise in homelessness.
