When designed with usability and empathy in mind, tech can support people in flourishing personally and in their relationships.
Just think of some of the behavioural health apps that assist people with keeping track of, and remembering, their commitments to themselves, along with e.g. apps that can facilitate meditation.
I continue to believe that the ACEs community as a whole could benefit from having the support of technology that's designed with empathy, usability and reusability as core values.
It certainly would be great to develop such technology with a charter of ethics that promotes the development of open source, reusable software components that are designed and developed to maintain a high level of privacy. It is my ambition to create such a charter.
Launching and building any movement requires determination, and the resources to go with it, however, and I guess that third time's a charm in this regard. :-)
That's why I will try to do my best to make 2018 the Year of Tech Talking ACEs; that is to facilitate and participate hands-on in the creation of a community producing relevant, usable tech that's supportive to the cause of identifying and preventing ACEs and alleviating the potentially life-long effects of them.
I will resume the ACEs Tech Talks, in which we discuss the community's need for tools and interventions, from early January onwards, and I will also try to facilitate a community process of requirements gathering, design thinking, designing and testing out the tech we produce.
Meanwhile, do reach out to me here in case you have any projects in the pipeline that could benefit from also having a tech dimension, as there could be a lot of synergy between this mission and what you are trying to accomplish.
Love,
Thomas
