Victor Frankl: "Man can suffer any what, when he knows why."
Frankl will be with us in spirit at New Wine, New Wineskins' conference "Trauma & Resilience" on March 18th at Multnomah University/Multnomah Biblical Seminary in Portland, Oregon.
One of many leaders participating in this multi-disciplinary conference is ACEs Connection contributor, Chris Haughee, of Intermountain Residential Services in Helena, Montana. He will be sharing about his work with children and families who have experienced significant trauma in their lives.
Chris stated recently, "I would commend the work of New Wine, New Wineskins and Multnomah University, especially their Doctorate of Ministry-cross cultural engagement program. I am near the end of my journey towards my doctorate, but the work is just beginning. Multnomah believed in me and my vision for building trauma-informed ministries years ago when they honestly didn't really know what I was talking about. What they saw was an exciting way to connect the gospel of Jesus Christ to a need in our culture and drawing on the excellent research in science, medicine and the social services. I am honored to be invited to present at their March 18th conference on Trauma and Resilience."
Other confirmed participants in the conference include:
- Dr. Laura Gardner, who has for many years worked with Wycliffe. Dr. Gardner was one of the original advocates for bringing trauma and resilience training into missions
- Eric Knox who is a pastor at Portland's Imago Dei Community (Eastside Gathering), and the founder of Holla Mentors, will be addressing the theme of racial trauma and resilience during a plenary session
Those that wish to register and want to know more about the expanding line-up of speakers and presenters that will be at the conference should contact New Wine, New Wineskins here.
