Mental health experts push early intervention [Amarillo.com]

One-fifth of Americans develop a mental illness during their lifetime, according to DSHS, and half of all mental illnesses begin by age 14.

“It really does affect their school life, their home life, their occupational choices and it influences everything that they become as an adult, so it’s really important that we try to catch it early on,” Texas Panhandle Centers Behavioral and Developmental Health Executive Manager Libby Moore said.
