I'm thrilled to announce that my book, Healing Emotional Eating for Trauma Survivors: Trauma-Informed Practices to Nurture a Peaceful Relationship with Your Emotions, Body, and Food is available. I'm honored that PACES member Donna Jackson Nakazawa, an award-winning science journalist and author of seven books, wrote the foreword.
Healing Emotional Eating for Trauma Survivors is the culmination of my nearly 40-year career as a clinical social worker and holistic psychotherapist specializing in childhood trauma.
My book addresses the connection between early trauma and emotional eating. It teaches you about the effects of trauma on your nervous system, how trauma shaped the beliefs you hold of yourself and your world, and how to embrace and honor your feelings without using food to numb them.
You’ll learn practical and powerful strategies rooted in trauma science to help you create a more harmonious and respectful relationship with your body, food, and your feelings. The book includes links to worksheets and four relaxation and guided visualization audios, including one to connect with your inner wisdom—your Wise Self—for guidance and support on your journey.
“Practical, smart, and wise,
this beautifully crafted guide fills a much-neglected niche
in the trauma self-help literature."
–Julie M. Simon, MA, MBA, LMFT, licensed psychotherapist, life coach, and author of The Emotional Eater’s Repair Manual and When Food Is Comfort
