We are so excited to launch our NEW trauma-informed co-colouring book to foster social emotional learning in young people affected by the stress and stigma of a parent's substance use!
Our team at Starlings Community are so excited to be launching a new series of tools for natural supports and family caregivers who are journeying alongside young people who are affected by the stress and stigma of a parents substance use.
Designed for professionals and / or family members supporting young people who are growing up with the stress and stigma of a parent’s substance use, this colouring book fosters social-emotional learning through trauma-informed approaches that provides conversation prompts in non-stigmatizing language to support caregivers and natural supports to validate experiences, normalize complex emotions, and create a safe space for self-expression for young people.
In our Youth Program and Children's Rights Lead (Cassandra's) words: “I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the caregivers, friends, and family members who are taking the time to work on this colouring book with a youth in their life. Your involvement means so much—not just for the child facing the challenges, stress, and stigma of a parent's substance use, but also for those of us who wish we had access to such resources sooner. Witnessing the love and creativity that emerges from this project has helped heal a part of my own inner child. Thank you for your unwavering support and for being such a positive influence in their lives. Your efforts truly make a difference, and fosters hope and resilience for a brighter future and a stronger community that’s rid of stigma and shame’.
