Current science on how toxic stress affects your patients’ health is the focus of a new course called Violence, Abuse and Toxic Stress in Pediatrics: An Update on Trauma-Informed Care in Children and Youth. The course will be held July 30-Aug. 2 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco.
Co-sponsored by the AAP Section on Child Abuse and Neglect, the Section on Adolescent Health, and the Council on Foster Care, Adoption and Kinship Care, the course helps health care providers identify children who have experienced adversity and toxic stress. Sessions offer an understanding of trauma, presentation and risk factors. Resilience and self-care also are discussed. Information allows health care providers to apply the latest science to their daily practice.
