New Fellowship Program Launches to Empower Graduates of the CRC Accelerator Program to Grow Resilient Communities

As the world sees an increased need for trauma-informed interventions and systems transformation, PACEs Connection proudly announces the launch of the Creating Resilient Communities (CRC) Fellowship program created to empower graduates of the CRC Accelerator program. The Fellowship, set to commence in January 2024, aims to support organizational leaders, nonprofit advocates, grassroots change agents, and policymakers in building the skills to assist organizations in system transformations and the creation of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) and trauma-informed and healing centered practices in both the public and private sector.

Addressing trauma and strengths-based resilience building through the evidence of positive and adverse childhood experiences (PACEs) is at the heart of the fellowship’s mission. The CRC Fellowship program is an entirely free offering tailored for participants of the CRC Accelerator certification program who have successfully completed the accelerator. Given the importance of building momentum for the PACEs movement, the CRC Fellowship partnered with Grow with Google to provide Fellows with access to free Google certification courses that develop skill-building in marketing, AI, and cybersecurity to support overall impact.

Following the PACEs Connection Growing Resilient Communities framework, ideal candidates for the Fellowship will demonstrate a commitment to heart-centered healing, anti-racism, and all aspects of action-oriented, grassroots movement building. Leveraging an interactive tool, fellows will establish and track actionable progress in community building, positive community experiences (PCEs), and knowledge of trauma, adversity & resilience through a socio-ecological lens.

The CRC Fellowship supports various activities that follow the Growing Resilient Communities framework including research, community development, LIVE interactive case studies tied into the 6 territories the Historical Trauma series follows, and experiential learning opportunities with a community of 430 partners and over 50 organizational partners and stakeholders in all 50 states and internationally. Fellows differentiate strengths-based and deficit-based approaches and center positive community experiences (PCEs) through heart-centered Indigenous and racial healing community-building efforts.

PACEs Connection CEO Ingrid Cockhren states, “The CRC Accelerator program was initially created to engage everyday people typically outside of the PACEs science bubble to have a working understanding of trauma on the human body and brain, how it impacts society as a whole, and how we mitigate trauma or increase resilience in individuals. One year after our pilot, we’ve seen an increase in graduates of the accelerator.

“The CRC Fellowship is an addition to our Resilient Communities ecosystem. It’s structured like a cohort to support accelerator participants in building relationships with like-minded fellows while kickstarting PACEs initiatives in their own communities and organizations. It’s also a solution to bring in the shared language of the CRC accelerator for the purpose of training workforces across sectors.”

The Fellowship is an opportunity to further explore economic development and reflect a big-picture view of medical, education, economics, and law enforcement. Qualified candidates will demonstrate an interest in the economic development of the impacted communities they serve specific to the sector of their expertise (e.g. health, education, economics, policy, etc.).

PACEs Connection maintains that PACEs science is for everybody. The Fellowship is honored to support dedicated individuals poised to make a lasting impact within their communities who will champion the creation of an inclusive, equitable, and resilient society. The 2023 application deadline is December 31, 2023.
