NorCal ACErs San Mateo meetup: (sparkling) water and chocolate

Writer and attorney Marianna Klebanov, mental health scholar and MFT intern Laura Kerr, ACE Overcomers founder Dave Lockridge (left to right in photo), and I met in Marianna's offices in San Mateo on Friday, Sept. 13. Dave had just turned the bottles around so that folks could see we were drinking sparkling water, not wine (and some of us were nibbling on chocolate). We were giddy from an inspiring and energizing two-hour wide-ranging conversation about how we learned about the ACE Study, and how we were integrating it into our lives and work.

Each of us had our lives transformed by learning about the ACE Study and trauma-informed practices: Dave started a new line of work when he founded ACE Overcomers, Marianna shifted from specializing in insurance law to working with children and families and wrote a book about parenting issues (which is being reviewed by publishers), and Laura added an additional path of training to become a trauma-informed marriage and family therapist. And I began reporting and writing about the subject, and founded ACEsTooHigh and ACEsConnection.
