Hello beautiful trauma-warriors and trauma-advocates!
I have not shared this in quite a long time, but wanted to put it out there for those interested.
My daughter and I wrote a children's book when she was 9 years old. It was a mom/daughter heart project that had several purposes:
* teach her the process of writing, illustrating, and self-publishing a book (we used Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing)
* it was written about our now-therapy-dog, Sammie, so we loved the idea of kids reading about our sweet, sweet labradoodle
* eventually we started giving book presentations with Sammie, in her role as a therapy dog, at schools, libraries, clubs, etc. . . . talking to kids about Sammie's therapy dog role helping kids with anxiety, bullying, etc., but also about writing, illustrating, and publishing a book
* we started putting free copies in each of our Sammie's Bundles of Hope (a project we created to offer coping trinkets to kids with trauma history) . . . we started dropping the bags at homeless shelters housing children, but also at schools requesting bags for children who had suffered a traumatic experience (they are filled with such items as stress balls, bubbles, coloring books, journals, fidgets, a copy of our book, and so much more - all of which was donated to us by generous individuals and companies)
If you are interested in reading our book (geared toward preschoolers, but the elementary kids seem to love it, too - Sammie has an instant soul connection with kids as they learn about her therapy dog work and our Sammie's Bundles of Hope project), check it out for FREE if you have Kindle Unlimited or you can purchase a paperback copy.
A portion of the proceeds from the sales go toward continuing our Sammie's Bundles of Hope project.

Thanks so much for your support of Sammie and our work to help kiddos who have adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) history
Thanks for sharing, too!!
