"Soaring numbers of child abuse allegations are being dropped by police, figures reveal today.

"Home Office minister Damian Green is due for talks in Washington on a UK-US pact to tackle internet paedophiles and said that parents “rightly expect us to do all we can to protect our children”.
"She added: “We need to make sure that the police and the Crown Prosecution Service work together as early as possible to make sure that victims don’t fall through the cracks.

“Once again, ministers are showing that this is not a government that stands up for the weak.”
