St. Joseph Community Health gives HMS $25k for family program - New Mexico

"Hidalgo Medical Services of Lordsburg was presented with a $25,000 donation from St. Joseph Community Health for implementation of the First Born Program in Hidalgo County....Promoting maternal health through good prenatal care can reduce the chances of preterm births, low birth weight, and fetal exposure to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, all of which can contribute to the increased likelihood of substance abuse, health risks, and violence later in a child s life. FBP has demonstrated that promoting positive, loving, secure parenting can reduce subsequent unintended pregnancies, child abuse, and other adverse childhood events."
