Last week, after the video class by therapist Dr. Tara Brach, I said that for one day, I’d try to be Present with What Is. Hey, I struggle with a regular meditation for 45 minutes, so this’ll be a stretch.
On Day 1, when the alarm rings, instead of growling, I lie there and take as many deep breaths as I need until I can greet the alarm with wonder: "Wow, I have a cell phone! It works, and it's even got an alarm.” Seeing my calendar for today, I take as many deep breaths as needed, until I relax the rising stress about all those calls and emails...
Gosh, this Presence thing is gonna take a lotta time...
But would you believe that it could also lead to feeling the emotion that someone loves me so much, that for the first time in my life, I actually feel like I BELONG on this planet? Another stretch, especially if we're born with Attachment Disorder that hard-wires into our brain stem an anxiety that says we don't belong, to anyone or anything, anywhere...
