The United Way of Greater Plymouth County Family Center received much-welcomed support from the Stonehill College Softball team for a family served by the center.
Stonehill senior and softball pitcher Katherine Rayner interned with the Drug Endangered Children's Initiative at the Family Center during the fall semester and suggested the team’s annual holiday charitable efforts could be directed to a Family Center client.
Team members contributed toward the purchase of sneakers, sports equipment and a grocery gift card for a grandmother raising two grandsons.
Knowing the boys enjoy sports was an added incentive for the team. The team’s generosity reflects the Stonehill College mission, which reads, in part, “Stonehill College, a Catholic institution of higher learning founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross, is a community of scholarship and faith, anchored by a belief in the inherent dignity of each person.”
