New York— Tuesday, September 6th 2022 — The Stop Abuse Campaign today announced that nationally recognized leader Linda C. Degutis, DrPH, MSN, has taken the helm of the organization and its efforts to end the cycle of abuse. “I’m proud to join this organization and to be a part of the effort to help restore the American Dream,” said Degutis. “America can no longer afford to see our democratic experiment brought down by a cycle of violence that often begins with children in the home.”
Founder of the Stop Abuse Campaign, Andrew Willis, says, “The addition of Dr. Degutis to the organization’s board is another major step in addressing the plight of abuse that results in drug abuse, violence, incarceration, illness, and death. The cost of abuse in the United States is estimated to be approximately $500 million/year or more.”
A native of Chicago, Dr. Degutis is a Lecturer at the Yale School of Public Health and an Adjunct Professor at Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University. Degutis has received numerous awards, including Honorary Fellow, The Royal Society for Public Health (UK); Member of the National Academy of Medicine; and the Distinguished Service Award from the Injury Control and Emergency Health Service Section, American Public Health Association.
