Let’s be honest: No one enjoys going to the dentist.
But for people who’ve experienced trauma in their lives — such as sexual abuse or domestic violence — the prospect of sitting in a dentist’s chair can be positively frightening.
At a Wednesday press conference, Water Street Health Ministries — in partnership with Lancaster General Health, St. Joseph Health Ministries, Franklin & Marshall College and the local dental community — announced a study to develop a new way to treat persons who avoid dental care because of past trauma.
