Hello colleagues,
I'm privileged to be a part of this community where we recognize the long term effects brought into a person's life as a result of trauma. Although we are all dealing with a stressful time of adaptation with COVID19, including financial changes, I figured it would not hurt to make a post in an attempt to garner support.
One of the families I am connected with is going through even more significant trauma aside from the pandemic. Right before this started mid-March, the husband was pulled over and detained. This left a mother of four alone and without a source of income to support her family, nor any others to help with this burden in terms of help with the kids so she can find work. The situation is further complicated by her status also being undocumented. The children are all citizens, and one of them lives with a developmental disability. In fact, many symptoms of his condition initially worsened right after the father spent time away from home when he was a toddler. I'm sure this is having a complicated effect on this nonverbal young man. While this is something I can do little about from afar while services have been suspended, I can help support their basic needs for shelter and food continuation.
If anyone has even five dollars to spare, it would be greatly appreciated, and more information can be found at the following link. I'm happy to answer other questions within HIPAA and ethical stipulations.
