Here's a fantastic review of a very promising prevention/intervention model written by neuroscience journalist and former addict, Maia Szalavitz, the author of "Unbroken Brain: A Revolutionary New Way of Understanding Addiction."

I thought this was such an interesting article. Thanks for posting it, Kirsten. My sense -- but I do not know -- is that the researchers don't know about ACEs science. It seems as if you'd get the same information by having the parents or caregivers fill out an ACE survey (for themselves), as well as the kids, and the solutions would be to transform the entire school to be trauma-informed, which would address the trauma of the teachers, staff and administration and the organization, too.
