Where would childhood trauma go if it belonged, completely unresolved, to someone who later becomes a parent except on down to their children? Trauma, I believe, continues to survive and perpetuate itself until the lessons that it has to teach humanity are learned - by someone - so that such a trauma will not repeat itself!
I have been exploring my thoughts about the power of "survival emotions" that are integral aspects of our calm-stress response system. They, too, have much to teach for they have always been the fountainhead of what has kept our species alive.
Today I wrote a second post on this topic in which I return to an occurrence of my teen years as I brought with me some new insights about how powerless my parents were to prevent the full wrath of their traumatic childhoods from flowing with the heat of lava force on down through the lives of their children -- most centrally, down on me. And about how clearly powerless I was as a result on the day the story in

took place. There is always a cost for unresolved trauma. On this day an innocent paid a price.
